Special Agents for Shipping & Maritime Affairs are appointed by the Minister of Public Works, Utilities, Transport & Posts, according to section 446(4) of the Merchant Shipping Act . They may be called upon by the Government to carry out various duties to do with the Governments obligations, under International treaties, including IMO conventions, as duly authorised officials of the Government.
